What is the difference between punk and rock
But i don't think they can be put in Pop punk category. I actually kinda like Pop-Punk better then normal Punk. Wheres the Grunge Forum on here I just saw Emobashers sn and it drives me nuts. I love it! Hippies don't act. Punks don't either. Of course there are exceptions, but let's not pretend we're saints.

Punk is almost anti-technique, lacking in instrumental solos and focusing on power chords, speed, volume and attitude. Instrumental prowess takes a back seat to self-expression. They are, however, noted for lyrics that are intellectual, often political and anti-establishment.
Punk songs are short, averaging two minutes or less, although they still have a verse-chorus structure. Metal music was very much about precision and deployed the music with an almost military discipline.
The sound was thick and massive with strong beats always played highly amplified. Solos featuring individual skills were as essential to metal as they were anathema to punk. Lyrics get characterized as being heavily masculine, macho and nihilistic in nature. How do you objectively define and classify an art form, given that the nature is so subjective?
Who establishes the criteria for a genre…and does it even matter? A classification for a style of sounds with inherently similar elements. According to that line of thinking, punk evolved from rock. All punk is rock, but not all rock is punk. Do we analyze sound? Who is the best punk drummer? Is Punk a rock? Why do punks hate hippies? Is Green Day punk rock? Is punk rock dead? Who killed punk rock? What does punk dead mean?
Is Punk making a comeback? What happened punk? Why is pop punk popular?
